Terms of service.
The plain-language rules for using StealthQL. If anything below seems unfair, email us — these are the terms we want to live by, not ones we want to hide behind.
1. The service
"StealthQL" provides two things: an open-source backend runtime distributed as the npm package stealthql under the Apache-2.0 license, and a hosted dashboard ("StealthQL Managed") that operates a server (a DigitalOcean Droplet) on your behalf. These terms apply to StealthQL Managed. The runtime itself is governed by its open-source license.
2. Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
- You’re responsible for what your team members do under invites you’ve issued.
- You’re responsible for any data you put on a server you launched through us.
3. Acceptable use
Don’t use StealthQL to:
- Host content that’s illegal where you live or where your users live.
- Send unsolicited bulk email, run phishing pages, or distribute malware.
- Probe or attack other tenants or our infrastructure.
- Store data you don’t have the right to store, including data subject to laws or regulations you haven’t complied with (HIPAA, FERPA, etc. — if you’re subject to one of these and want to use StealthQL, talk to us first).
4. Billing
- Plans are billed monthly via Stripe unless you’re on a custom invoice arrangement.
- You can cancel anytime from /dashboard/billing; your server stays live until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds are issued at our discretion for service failures or unintended charges. We don’t pro-rate cancellations.
- If a payment fails twice, we pause your server (no data loss) and email you. After 14 days unpaid, the server is suspended.
5. Service level
We aim for 99.9% uptime on the dashboard and your server. We’re not perfect — if we cause a meaningful outage we’ll credit your account proportionally on request. The dashboard will tell you when an incident is in progress; we don’t hide them.
6. Your data, your exit
- You own everything you put on a StealthQL server. We don’t claim a license to it.
- Eject packages your entire capsule into a portable tarball with a migration runbook. You can leave any time, with everything.
- If we discontinue the managed service we’ll give you 90 days notice and an exit pack of every server you operate with us.
7. Liability
StealthQL is provided "as is." We don’t warrant that your application will be bug-free, that your DigitalOcean Droplet won’t go down, or that the policies you write will catch every mistake an agent makes. Our liability for any claim is capped at the fees you paid us in the prior 12 months. This isn’t us being cute — it’s standard, but if you want a different cap for your enterprise contract, we’ll talk.
8. Changes to these terms
We’ll notify you at least 30 days before any material change to these terms. The full revision history is on GitHub.
